Brief Description of Project: The objective of this traffic assessment was to examine the impacts associated with the opening of Highway 416 from Century Road to Hunt Club/Knoxdale Road that was scheduled for November 1995. The northern section of Highway 416 (Hunt Club/Knoxdale Road to Highway 417) was scheduled for 1996.

A two-phase study process was developed that involved contact with Municipal officials to assess relevant issues and present background information inclusive of traffic volumes, intersection layout, collision frequency and alternative strategies.

Three sets of diversion assumptions were developed that represented different magnitudes of traffic that would divert from Highway 16 to the new Highway 416. Each set of assumptions was simulated to determine the impacts on highway infrastructure and adjacent intersections.
