Merivale Rd Traffic Control Plans (Ottawa, ON)

Project

Castleglenn Consultants Inc. was retained by Bradley-Kelly Construction Ltd. to produce detailed Traffic Control Plans required for the replacement of a Bell underground utility structure on Merivale Rd (north of Family Brown Ln).

The project consisted of:

  • The closure of the outside southbound Merivale lane and a reduction of two through lanes that had to accommodate heavy vehicles and buses; and
  • The duration of the project was anticipated to be approximately three weeks with work being conducted 24 hours-per-day while still maintaining four lanes of traffic on Merivale Rd.

Based on City of Ottawa’s roadway standards, Merivale Rd is classified as a Major Arterial Roadway with significant traffic volumes. The traffic control plans complied with the City of Ottawa’s Traffic Studies and Safety Engineer Department standards, policies and guidelines and incorporated specifications outlined in the Ontario Traffic Manual (Book 7) and the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Canada.
