Project
Castleglenn Consultants Inc. was retained in December 2008 to undertake a functional planning study that would address the “ultimate” requirements of a 3.2km section of Highway 783 beginning south of Highway 7 (in the vicinity of the Town of Okotoks). The primary objectives of this planning study were to identify the preferred alignment and associated right-of-way area for a twinned Highway 783 corridor. The study also included the requirements of the Highway 7/Highway 783/Southridge Drive intersection which included the proposed “ultimate” twinning of Highway 7 (as per Highway 7:08 Functional Planning Study, McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd., March 2003).
It was recognized that the proposed access management strategy along the Highway 783 corridor must conform to standards associated with a four lane divided cross-section while remaining sensitive to the access requirements of existing acreages and future developments located adjacent to the highway corridor.
