HWY 27 – Functional Planning Study (Olds, AB)

Project

Castleglenn Consultants was retained by Alberta Transportation to conduct the Highway 27 Functional Planning Study. This study addressed the “ultimate” requirements of the Highway 27 corridor in the vicinity of the Town of Olds.

Phase I: Corridor Planning focused on identifying a preferred interchange location along the Highway 2 corridor and identifying, reviewing and evaluating the Highway 27 bypass corridor options.

Phase II: Alignment Study concentrated on identifying, reviewing and evaluating possible alignments and required structures within the recommended corridor leading to a recommended alignment supported by “initial” and “ultimate” staged functional plans, right-of-way request plans and an access management plan.

Transportation planning, traffic engineering, collision analysis, geometric highway and interchange design, conceptual costing, functional planning, right-of-way identification, infrastructure assessment, matrix evaluation analysis, travel demand forecasting, public involvement/consultation, public open house, council and committee presentations.
